A BLOG ABOUT OUR TRIP TO THE WORLD CUP IN SOUTH AFRICA

This is a blog to share information with our friends and family about our upcoming trip to South Africa to follow Australia in the World Cup, see the other Big Game in the Kruger Park and see the country where Pamela was brought up.

Lesotho 2010

This page is about a special part of our trip - when we visit Lesotho as part of the Kick4Life charitable initiative.

We will be visiting this beautiful but disadvantaged part of Southern Africa with the Kick4Life charitable initiative, meeting some locals, helping fund some HIV testing, playing a game of soccer against the locals and pony trekking in the mountains.

Please visit www.lesotho2010.org to learn about it all..

Our Time in Lesotho

We got to Lesotho at the end of our trip - it was just the tonic needed after the England/Germany game down the road in Bloemfontain.  Our first night was in a beautiful guesthouse in Morija - we shared it with 13 England fans from all corners of that country - they spent the evening entertaining Joe + Talia playing cards whilst Joe taunted them about their rubbish team.

Then on to Malealea for the Kick4Life event - we took part in some HIV/Aids awareness execises with the locals and then played a game against the local team.

Our team comprised david + Joe and a bunch of other Aussies and Poms with a local goalie and centreforward.  We drew 2-2 and beat them on penalties !!!  Not bad on that pitch and at a heck of an altitude!

Went ponytrekking in the afternoon and left the next day for Joburg.

As we reached the top of the mountain pass to head home 3 little boys appeared from no-where and Joe gave them the ball he'd been kicking around SA for 3 weeks and a Socceroos flag - maybe they'll meet again some day and play another game together...
